Amnesty International accuses Israel of having committed war crimes and perform ruthless attacks and arbitrary destruction during the offensive in Gaza

Hundreds of Palestinian civilians killed by high precision weapons while others shot at close range said Amnesty in a report from the BBC took note of

The report also calls missile attacks on militant Palestinians war crimes and accuses Hamas of having exposed civilians to danger

The Israeli military says it acted within the framework of international law
Israel has said that some civilian fatalities can be attributed to "professional mistake" but has rejected criticism that the attacks were indiscriminate and disproportionate

Amnesty states that 1 400 Palestinians were killed during the Israeli offensive which lasted 22 days between December 27 and January 17 which are consistent with the Palestinian figures

Over 900 of the dead were civilians among them 300 children and 115 women according to Amnesty
In March Israel said that 1 166 Palestinians killed, 295 of them were civilians

The 117-page Amnesty report says that several hundred civilian casualties can not be dismissed with "accidental losses among the civilian population" in the otherwise lawful acts or mistakes.

Amnesty says that the questions are unanswered about why the children were playing on the rooftops and healthcare workers who treated injured were killed by precision missiles when they fired them had detailed information on the targets
Palestinians also lost their lives to Israel often prevented medical care

Amnesty says it found no evidence that Hamas should have forced the civilians to stay in buildings for military reasons which contradicts the Israeli allegations that Hamas used human shields

But Hamas and other Palestinian groups have been exposed Palestinian civilians in danger by firing rockets from densely populated areas and store weapons there
in one case Hamas launched a rocket from a schoolyard according to the local population

However Amnesty accuses Israel of using civilians including children as human shields in Gaza by forcing them to stay in the houses where the soldiers took military positions

What also becomes evident when part of the BBC's reporting and the Amnesty report is how Israel is lying about what happened in Gaza about the victims of missiles and shelling etc.. Neither Amnesty has found no evidence that Hamas would have used civilians as "human shields" Such claims are nothing more than Israeli propaganda

Who is caring – is this just another statistic? These are men, women and children – with the same hopes and aspirations as others. Life is cheap for some!

Why should Palestinians have to justify where their children play?-What a strange world we live in?

How can a power imprison a population – then accuse their ruling authority of using them as human shields – they already have no-where to run!

Amnesty has a worldwide reputation – hope it carries some weight!
