Fayyad engages in a series of meetings with American officials in Washington, D.C.

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad is taking part in several meetings today in Washington D.C. with senior level U.S. Administration officials, including Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, National Security Advisor General James Jones, as well as Congressional leaders.

PM Fayyad also met with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton yesterday evening. The meeting focused on the importance of insisting that Israel implement its obligations, specifically a complete halt to settlement activity and incursions, as outlined in the Road Map. Implementation of these requirements is a prelude to a serious and balanced political process which should lead to the end of the Israeli occupation.
