Hi Eyes Wide Open,
I have enjoyed your contributions and your page. It is obvious you have put some time and effort into your page. But what is real funny is that after reading a blog on another site I felt the need to come onto Palestinian Mothers and look at your page. Why, you may ask yourself. Well because the blog was left by a person with the user name Dant, but at the very bottle of this comment (which happened to be about the palestinian/israeli conflict) were the worlds Eyes, WIDE OPEN! It may not have been left by you. Nonetheless, it was what brought me here. I wish more people would open their eyes. Anyway, I'm glad that the blog brought me to your page. You seem like a person worthy of knowing. Thank you for all your insight and knowledge. If only knowledge were contagious and it could awaken humanity from the comatose state in which they are all living in. It is all this misinformation and the unwillingness of people to search for truths that make man dead while still technically being alive.

Music? I'm an open minded musician and love all types of music. I'm a lifelong musician and played with some big bands in the late 60s [as a teenager...ha!] and early 70s publishing for Capitol Records as a studio musician. I play 7 instruments [half/ass] and orchestrate for 9. I still Jam every every week with friends, play nearly every day and teach guitar...mostly. Today, many people see the violence and torture done for their palates as absolutely acceptable: Human and Animal exploitation is the norm, despite the contradictions inherent in it. Given how overwhelmingly strong the societal currents run against treating Humans/Animals as anything more than commodities and property, the kind of change we need will require more than violence, more than property destruction, and certainly more than a re-creation of the exploitative dynamics that got us here to begin with. If we are to ever win or advance, we must do so by changing the social relations that are at the heart of the problems we face. If we re-create those damaging social relations by relying on the dominance and oppression of violence, we are essentially doing nothing but deepening the problems that exist, and more often than not, claiming to be the fighters of "life" .

In short, we can’t force people to make decisions about morality while they’re staring down the barrel of a gun (or on the receiving end of a bomb). We have to do the hard and often inglorious work of creating a broad-based social movement that will call into question the Humanitarian/Speciesist dynamics that underlie our social and cultural norms or traditions. Bombs or guns or violence or completely shameless attention whoring cannot achieve this, ever. To attempt to control behavior through force, whether it be singular or societal, has never worked and never will.

FAMOUS QUOTE: "Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar." –Julius Caesar

Israel continues its bloody reign on the Gaza Strip =LINKS=

With the death toll well over 1,000 in just three short weeks, Israel continues its bloody reign on the Gaza Strip, with no ease, no mercy, and no sign of a cease to this madness. There is a disturbing amount of complacency and lack of emotion, and even a disproportional lack of facts coming from our mainstream media. What is most disparaging is that most of our elected leaders not only embrace the scope of Israel's attack, but recently voted in favor of allocating more of our tax dollars in sup… Continue

One of the most astonishingly thorough jobs
of media censorship in the history of the US -

media's coverage of the Palestinians.

Stalinist Russia had a more fair and accurate

Not only does the US news media ignore the
daily brutalization of the Palestinians
by Israel, it also goes out of its way to
portray Palestinians as terrorists.

This situation, which has gone on for decades,

Confessions of a Christian Political Lunatic

September 12, 2008

It sure seems sometimes like I am alone. You see, I am a born again Christian. I believe in the bible as the inerrant word of God. I attend church twice per week, teach a bible class, and run a small group. I believe even in those things that may seem fringe to a lot of non-Christians, such as speaking in tongues. I can accept the differences we have and understand that what I believe may not be what you believe. The difficult pa… Continue

Where are the American Voices?

Where are the American Voices?

As a Jewish American reading a recent AP article “Condoleezza Rice clings to Mideast peace hopes,” I was struck by the Secretary of State’s condemnation of Israel’s illegal settlements even as the U.S. simultaneously continues to send the Jewish state more than $10 million a day. Our tax dollars are used to build and maintain the very institutions that we condemn… Are we not the source of certain obstacles to peace that we wish to remove?

Israeli settlements are… Continue

Are You Ready to Face the Facts About Israel?

Pentagon Manual: OK to Destroy Gitmo Interrogation Notes

Corruption rains at every level!! Did anyone know that Khadr was "15" years old? A child!!

At Gitmo, destroying evidence is standard operating procedure.

The Guantanamo "war crimes" trials took another shameful turn yesterday when the Navy lawyer representing Canadian-born Omar Khadr revealed that a 2003 Pentagon manual encouraged interrogators to destroy their hand written notes made at the time of the interrogations. The Courage of Rachel Corrie

Reviewed: Let Me Stand Alone: The Journals of Rachel Corrie by Rachel Corrie (W.W. Norton, 2008)

By all rights, Let Me Stand Alone should not be an easy book to read. Doom hangs over this collection of the journal writings of Rachel Corrie, who was a 23-year-old American peace activist when she was crushed to death by an Israel Defense Forces bulldozer in Gaza five years ago. And yet most of this book whizzes by in a series of delights: in descriptions of autumn football games in Washington sta… Continue

Dear Palestinian Mothers and friends,

Today, May 15, is the 60th anniversary of the day that the British Mandate over Palestine ended and the State of Israel was officially established. May 15 is also the day that is recognized as Nakba Day. Nakba is the Arabic word for "catastrophe" and refers to the Palestinian people's displacement and dispossession, which took place during the creation of Israel and continues to this day. Today is a cause of celebration for some, and mourning or protest for… Continue

Military: Israeli soldiers shoot, kill Palestinian teenager at West Bank roadblock

NABLUS, West Bank: Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian teenager at a West Bank roadblock on Monday, and the military said he was carrying explosives.

The military said the Palestinian approached the Hawwara checkpoint outside the West Bank city of Nablus, and soldiers saw him fumbling with something that appeared to be a bomb. They ordered him to drop it, but he ignored their orders. Then they opened fire, critically wounding him. He died later in a hospital.

Later the military said… Continue
