America's old ugly face

America's old ugly face

The US is still playing fast and loose with its commitments on Israeli-Palestinian peace, reports Khaled Amayreh in Ramallah

Speaking during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in West Jerusalem Saturday, 31 October, visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton remarked that Israel was making "unprecedented concessions" on the issue of settlements. "What the prime minister has offered in specifics on restraints on a policy on… Continue

Israelis Targeting Grassroots Activists

Israelis Targeting Grassroots Activists
Written by Mel Frykberg

Source: IPS News

(IPS) - Israeli authorities are increasingly targeting and intimidating non-violent Palestinian grassroots activists involved in anti-occupation activities who are drawing increased support from the international community.

Several weeks ago masked Israeli soldiers stormed the home of Ehab Jallad from The Jerusalem Popular Committee for the Celebration of Jerusalem as the Capital of Ara… Continue

Links to Palestinian Theater Groups

I have been working for almost a year now on a bibliography of sources for political progressives, with a special emphasis on the Middle East. This evening, I ran across some sites created by Palestinians in the theater arts.

I thought I would share these, and also ask for contributions to my list. My bibliography is now over 300 pages, and I have quite a few sources from all over the Middle East, but I am constantly finding more. If you are interested in seeing what I have collected so far, pl… Continue

HI ya;) I am happy you like the song. After what i've seen and lived through in the Irish conflict, and in other parts of the world I would not say i am the msot religious person in the world these days. Like most Irish people, I was Catholic, but these days I dont practice any religion and perfer to live my religion by treating people as they should be, and doing my best to be kind and helpful to people in the world. Im a lot more peaceful than i was in the old days LOL. But although this song has one line that can be considered "religious" or "christian" the rest is a blessing I would wish on everyone, so that is why I posted the song even though it has Christian overtones. I was worried about offending those of the muslim faith, so thank you for your nice comments:)

now pass the gumbo and dirty rice please:):):):) Oh i miss the food in the USA LOL

yes, Katrina was a disgrace. I watched it from here in Ireland, and everyone could not believe, the great USA failed to help it's own people, because they were not the right colour and poor. I agree with you about the palestinian land as well. Israel is a disgrace and they are evil. They feed their people on fear and hatred, so they are born to hate palestinins and muslims on the whole. If the USA would ever stand up to them for once, soon they would have to change or be isolated. But the jewish lobby in the USA is very stong and is well entrenched into American politics and both parties..So tha thas to change as well. I dont believe all the "rhetoric" from obama, he will have ot prove himself to me. He was albe to break from the lobbiests when he campaigned by raising online money from small donors, so, he is in a unique posiiton to actually DO something about Israel's aggression in the Middle East, but only if he is brave enough to actually do it.

i hope he surprises me but won't hold my breath:)

good to meet you:)
