Frankly, this guy sounds like a psychopath, or at least the kind of obsessive bore I wouldn't want to be stuck in a lift with. Everything he said was right-on, although saying it to a lowly call-centre worker might have been a waste of breath.

The smell of misery and the feeling of hope

By Mazin Qumsiyeh

I have not been to Beirut since I was five years old (but I do remember some things of it) and I was a bit nervous since much has happened in the decades since. Lebanon and Palestine together with Jordan and Syria have always been connected; only after the British and French decided to divide us and give part of the land to European Jews to replace the natives that we became separated and disconnected (and sometimes querreling). I was invited as a repr… Continue

Belly dancing political activism

Written by Iqbal Tamimi Tuesday, 10 November 2009 18:57

Activism is a wonderful form of solidarity; different people passionate about certain human rights' issues are willing to express their support in every possible way.

Some hold placards and march in the streets, others express their political stand by writing, and some paint the most wonderful… Continue

IFJ Defies Hamas Sabotage to Launch Ethical Journalism Campaign in Palestine

10 November 2009

The International Federation Journalists (IFJ) today condemned the action of Hamas officials in Gaza who prevented a meeting of journalists aimed at building a dialogue on independent journalism with Palestinian colleagues in the West Bank.

The meeting was part of the launch of a discussion by the IFJ of the Federation's Ethical Journalism Initiative, a global campaign to improve standards in journalism, which has already been taken up in a number of Arab countries.

Iqbal:

I have posted your article to United Progressives. I like to post a small signature biography at the bottom of each article, identifying the writer, and saying something about him/her. Can you give me a small paragraph saying something about you, such as where you live and what you write.

I have also added you to our membership roll so that your name appears properly at the top of each article, which is drawn from the database of authors. If you can provide me with an email address, I will add you to our newsletter mailing list.

Hi, Iqbal. It's a real pleasure to get acquainted. Emman Chehade Randazzo, a dear friend on Facebook, visits your site, and I happened to see one of her posts of your articles. I think I've seen her post them before, but have not visited your site until today. I'm very appreciative of the kind of information you provide, and I'd like to publish some of it in United Progressives.

My dear Iqbal I read your article "Is Egypt benefiting financially from the plight of the people of Gaza?"
Have you seen this article....

I am not sure if it will help answer the question or not.....
I have been saying for a while that egypt need to be boycotted.... well the government does...perhaps through tourism
I would think mubarak is protecting his aide from the usa
Is it black mail?
Or is he also getting back hands to do what he is doing?
I am not sure.......
It sicken me to see what egypt has now taken on the cloak of the zionist

Hi its very nice to speak with you, I am a 19 year old sophmore at Indiana University. As part of my class on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict we have been assigned to write an essay on a blog that discusses the conflict. In this class we learn in depth about zionism, Pan-Arabism and about many authors such as Khalidi, Herzl, Qutb and many others. I was wondering what was your main source of inspiration for creating a blog like this? Also, what is your opinion on the way that this conflict can be diffused? Finally, how would you describe how living in the United Kingdom has affected your viewpoint on the conflict?

I have been following this blog for a week or so now so I have a generally good idea of you opinions but to have them answered specifically would be very benefitial for my paper. I have really enjoyed reading the viewpoints on these blogs, thanks for all the help.
