This is really important news, and I believe that the attention it got this past week in our media networks has played a role in it, by turning the lights back on! thanks to everyone who has been involved in the campaign, but NOW, we need to see ...

That is a very good point, Iqbal. When compared to other Ning sites (especially MePeace), where "diversity" is the word they use, but it really means being able to pound out the discourse of "balance" (which is a hasbara way of diluting the truth ...

Iqbal, It's my pleasure first of all to be a part of the joyous community you created. It filled a void on many levels, and I hope it continues to grow and be stronger. Second of all, doing mostly "internet" activism, after years of street activis...

Tali, as always, thank you for showing us how important it is to clearly come out and avoid "balance" where there is none, and to state it loud and clear. Your post and your letter to Amnesty are really outstanding!

Oh dear, lovely Mary!... if all (even only a good number of) Jews were like you, the world would be definitely a better one.

Italian Jews training to work in Jewish media
July 22, 2009

ROME (JTA) -- Italy's Jewish community is running a first-of-its-kind seminar to train young journalists for work in the Italian Jewish media.

The workshop is the latest move in a concerted program by Jewish leaders in Italy to upgrade Jewish information, for the community and the general public.

During the two-week seminar, which began Sunday near Trieste, five young journalists are holding hands-on training sessions with professionals from the Jewish and mainstream media. The participants are from Florence, Venice, Turin and Milan.

Other recent initiatives have been the launch of a Jewish information portal, http://www.moked.it, and the publication in May of the first edition of what is planned as a periodic national Jewish newspaper.

Renzo Gattegna, president of the umbrella Union of Italian Jewish Communities, said he hoped the seminar would "be useful in reinforcing structures that are weak and sometimes not very efficient."

what a beautiful message you left for me!...and mention of the planting of a tree..was ironic...because I had watched a lovely interview a few days ago, Bill Moyers with poet W.S Merwin....and the question Moyers asked was 'why did you write that poignant line in your poem 'on the last day of earth I will plant a tree'.....(forgive I am paraphrasing ) it so Grabbed me..'that' feeling about trees...without sounding too too...there is something very basic in our genes perhaps, that is connected to trees..and fully embrace the connectedness and love that Palestinian families feel for their trees...and the picture of a woman who is weeping and hanging onto her ancient olive tree, as if it were a family member, visceral..

how lovely to have your hands in the rich umbrian soil...how fortunate you are ....and I only wish that I'd started earlier with hands in soil and the sweet smell of damp earth in my nose....but I grew up on concrete --inner city and thought weed clumps were flowers when a kid...but I found my way to building a garden when I lived in an Austin house...finally, in my late 40s and began building raised veggie beds companionate planting with herbs in between certain vegs...dill among the tomatoes or cucumbers...but I guess my all time favorite relationship iwht a plant had to be when I met my first growing Okra bush...she was a beaut!.what blossoms.and I was in my Louisiana Cajun cooking period...in which okra and tomatoes played a big role.
.
And speaking of a 'beaut'! there's Gilad...what can I say? jazz came early into my life...growing up inner city of Boston, it was the sound of a city..Jazz spoke to me...about the american truth that no one in power spoke back then..nor recognized..black people and racist bias...as rife there in boston as it was ever in Selma alabama...and lucky me grew up wiht friends who included me in their family life...black people who enabled me to see america 'thru the window' and there was a shift in how I saw the world as a result...that was when Malcolm was still a young preacher and had a tv program on saturday afternoon on local boston tv..and I would sit and listen to that man transfixed..his voice and his fire and his understanding of how this country worked....I was 12...then later Haley's biog of Malcolms life when I began imagining maybe I could do a hajj....so all of these loose threads became part of a tapestry for me...Palestine....seeing life thru another's perspective...seeing a TRUTH that only needed to be pointed out...and feeling the pain and indignity of a life repressed...all these threads woven together...in which Palestine becomes the centerpiece for all people who long for connection in the human family...
i lived and breathed jazz, Parker and post bebop where I found a 'home'...and for about 6 yrs now..I've gone to sleep playing Gilad --
to actually have sat in the same room with him playing live ..was mind blowing...heart stopping and foot stomping powerful...but that he brought the MESSAGE..not only the MUSIC made it ever so more moving to me...I felt like pinching myself...and then later when we were all sitting around the 'dinner' table at 2 am...and there he was next to me I found I could not even form words to speak. PARTLY because my new friends there in Houston who'd supported my idea to bring Gilad there to play and immediately underwrote all the expenses who made me feel like I'd invented sliced bread for inviting him to play in their city.....and partly because I was sitting next to him...listening to his stories and insights...needed to pinch myself...that this gift he has...to breath music into our ears and souls and to speak truth in to our hears and spirits...to rip the veils off of our eyes and scream the reality thru that horn...I was unable to speak.. sat next to him for ? 2 hours and could only soak it up...such relief to hear his words...his voice-his clarity... the only time I've ever felt both that moved and silent was when I was in hebron. To know that a person like Gilad lives and breaths on the planet --so down to earth...approachable...AND makes such music.. So I am sharing this with you, because i am sure you know what I mean...and you've known him for years..and you have made his writings accessible on that beautiful blog....thanks mary for your warm welcome....and let me know in what way I can help ---if there is something that I can do..? now or in future...well, my eyes are getting heavy....near midnight --will say buon notte...! ciao bella...mimi

querida mary...!! omg! finally---what a joy to finally 'meet' you -you delightful wonderful passionate compassionate hard working human being....all these years I've been loving reading your words/your blogs and never had a 'cause' to write you...other than to say how much I admire yourwork...your letters, your columns...your message to me was so full of warmth and organic goodness---like the Italian soil you put your hands in....how I envy that pleasure...my soil here is far from what I got used to in Austin TX...here, in the high desert of NM the soil is depleted completely ..only crushed granite and a tad of uranium I guess...as our drinking water too...with added yummy taste of plutonium too I head...so my efforts go in to composting and native flora ...only growing 'maters in pots...but other than that we do have much in common...a passion for art...(still painting but little these days)...for languages, though I will never be a fluent Arabic speaker dammit...and an undying passion for Palestine and serving the people of Gaza...thank you for all you do dearest lady...I am here a votre service! ciao bella.../mimi

Thanks for writing, Mary, I got squared away with Nahida, she is busy and has not been in touch, but thats OK, I got used to seeing so much "news from her that I went into Nahida withdrawl, but am recovering nicely, LOL LOL LOL

Mepeace Neri reads your page and spit some guile my way aftewr I posted there so it seems plausible that he is not just Neri but a team of follow ups who check progressions of peoples work. Also the site posted an offering of a senior analyst position with an NGO based in Jerusalem which after application and a full divulging of ones assets and connections they will, "let you know" I didn't bite but have seen this before and know from whence it hails,

I decided to go there and engage the site, neri, and the rest with some psychosynthesis, hopeing to moderate the views of the zionists in house. Who knows, i'm a praying man and was called to the front lines to make peace, so I do it, but the site's cadres are indeed sometime irritating and make me feel like I;m chewing on tinfoil talking to some of them, but a journey of a thousand miles does begin with such a step in the right direction. As for Mossad or Hasbara, in my experience they are spread very wide throughout the web and as lobg as I know big brother is watching I can talk to them as well. Thanks for the insight and as always I am in awae of your work and see how loved and respected you are, I join those who love Mary Rizzo, Peace, love and Palestine, jerry

Hi Mary, A few weeks back, FahKri Dweik posted some of a thread that took place at MEpeace. It concerned some arguments between Neri and Nahida and yourself, but I had trouble understanding some of the reasons for this trouble and why Fahkri posted it on PM. I visited Mepeace and ran a few of my rants through it to see what the resaction would be, and some was positive and other negative, but I saw that if posting some solid background on the occupation, it got knocked down or the thread ended abuptly.

Anyway, after hearing that Neri had called Nahida a "bad Palestinian♠, or something like that, I checked him out and find him to be one of three moderators who post and also delete posts on the same thread, which is troublesome if true conversation is to lead to new understanding, censors with a heavy hand steer a certain course, their course,.

Your name is yet mentioned there and the memory seems to be a lasting one, I would love to get some perspective from you about what happened there and why Nahida has disowned me as a friend. I am depressed about his and cannot understand how, after such a long relationship of supporting Palestine, I fell from grace and am shunned. You are wise, but I know very busy, if you have a minute, I am confused and you may be able to clarify some things, If you feel awkward, just ignore this, but know that I am concerned about mepeace being an information and archive of Palestinian activists for Hasbara, intelligence is gathered there and followed up by investigations by Mossad, I have some evidence of this and wonder what you think.♠♠
