A vacation!

Ah, I'm dreaming, lol! I would love a vacation; some time off just so that I can reconnect to my extended family and friends. So that I can sleep in one day...Sigh!

I have been very, very busy with my jobs. I am only working two jobs now, but have almost doubled my hours (and my salary!) at one of them. Since I usually work from home and try to make myself available for my clients, my hours are irregular.

My clients are, without exception, people with disabilities and extremely low incomes/resources. Some of them are homeless; many have no income at all. I advocate for them; teach them to advocate for themselves; attempt to help them find shelter or housing, access to medical care and medication, food, clothing - even soap and shampoo! Whatever the crisis is; whatever the need is, I seek to address it on their behalf.

I have been doing a lot of local traveling for my jobs. A challenge when you consider that I have no car of my own, and am disabled myself. The travel adds many, many hours to my busy schedule, lol - and there are some evenings when I fall asleep before I can enjoy the meal that I've cooked for my family! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......

And of course, I am still an activist - both online and off. It fills many more of my hours each week.

Three new things this Spring:
One, my 17 year old son has graduated from high school with extremely high marks and I am very proud of him. Since my kids are bi-racial (Hispanic/Caucasian in a culture that is currently Very anti-Hispanic), my son especially has had to deal with police harassment and racial profiling. I'm proud of him for being true to himself, and for believing in himself in spite of what so many in our society would have him believe!
Two, my daughter will be having my very first grandchild at the beginning of October! I spoil her, in small ways, at every opportunity. I'm excited! I've been Grandma by "proxy" to children in my extended family (the youngest just turned one and the oldest is now, incredibly, thirteen!), so I'm ready, lol!
Three, I am planting a garden, with vegetables, melons, strawberries, herbs (even lentils!) and just a few flowers. It is one of my ways to address rising food prices...

So, please forgive me if I am not present very often. I have not forgotten you, and hope to be here more often in the near future. I send you loving thoughts and wishes for many, many blessings - and above all, peace within your own minds and hearts.
