JVP Supports Jimmy Carter: US Must Talk to Hamas

Carter's critics are wrong. Talking to Hamas, which won the January 2006 Palestinian legislative elections, is a necessary part of creating peace. As Carter himself said, "There's no doubt in anyone's mind that, if Israel is ever going to find peace with justice concerning the relationship with their next-door neighbors, that Hamas will have to be included in the process."

He's there! Despite US and Israel's opposition to this meeting, Jimmy Carter is meeting with Hamas!

There was an interesting editorial by Haaetz t'other day but they don't give links for the eds, luckily PMC picked up on it.... There is also a petition regards the Carter visit:

Haaretz Editorial: Carter Deserves Royal Treatment, Not Israeli Boycott

The government of Israel is boycotting Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, during his visit here this week. Ehud Olmert, who has not managed to achieve any peace agreement during his public life, and who even tried to undermine negotiations in the past, "could not find the time" to meet the American president who is a signatory to the peace agreement with Egypt.

It was to expect that the Zionist regime would be infuriated by Carter's visit to Hamas... Israel doesn't want peace. I am glad he went anyway and got to talk with Hamas. I signed the petition a while ago.

Olmert "could not find the time"..... Yeah, right!

I hope you are doing well Andrew.

Oh Hi Crystal, you just reminded me that I haven't replied to a couple of your messages, it's so easy or quick in my inbox to get buried, lost or forgotten about, so sorry but I would have gotten back to you eventually.

As for doing well, the electric's still on & I haven't been evicted yet, so yeh, suppose so, bit tired, 3 in morning here, another long nite of cut/copy paste etc - also in middle of writing smth up which you might like, should be finished (lol) over the weekend.

So how are you? You better these days? Sorry, I gotta go....... to sleep, nite xxx

It's the same thing on my side Andrew with the messages. Don't worry about it! I'm glad to hear from you now.

Here too, the electric''s on and I haven't been evicted yet... How uncertain is everything now! Here the price of rents is so high that it is difficult to find anything decent and affordable....

I am looking forward to read what you are writing! I just got up. It is 7 AM here. Hope you get some rest. Talk to you later... xxx
